New Composition and Text Lesson
Step 1 - New Composition
Composition is very important when begining an image. You must always be aware of your length, width and resolution. The following example has a height of 11 inches, a width of 8.5 inches and a resolution of 300. You will notice that the Color Mode is RGB and the Background content is White.

Create a "New" composition that is:

  • 6 inches in height
  • 8 inches in width
  • 300 resolution
  • Color Mode: RGB
  • Background Contents: White

Step 2 - Text

Within your new image write your name. Feel free to change the font and color to reflect your personal style. (Hint- "Window" select "Character")

Using your "Move Tool" transform your name until it appears full screen in your composition.(Hint: transform = "Apple T"Remember to hold down the shift key and drag the corner to keep the correct proportions.)

Step 3 - Layer Style
The image above looks flat. Photoshop gives you the chance to add deminsion to any image or text. Using your "Layer" drop down menu, go to "Layer Style" and enhance your text. (Hint- sometimes less is more)

When you have completed steps 1-3, raise your hand to receive a grade for lesson 3!
